SCIENCE : 5th graders explore plant and animal cells, their parts, and functions. Further discussions are carried on in class comparing and contrasting the two types of cells. Students build simple sculptures or two dimensional diagrams of cells with modeling clay. Students create a song, dramatic interpretation, wrap, or chant explaining a specific body system, its organs, the organ functions, and explain how the body system of study supports other organ systems in the body to sustain life
Social Studies: Students are creating models of Native American homes and writing research reports telling the stories of the first Native American populations, their culture, their jewelry, their way of obtaining food, their use of natural resources, and the different adaptations to climate for agriculture, and moving to follow their food sources.
